Bunts’ Sangha RNS Vidyaniketan had an opportunity to host its Debut Venture of Chess Championship under the Banner KISA (Karnataka and Goa Region Zone-5) at RTB Auditorium, RNS Campus. The tournament began with an invocation followed by a welcome address by Madam, Principal, Smt. Usha Santosh. Speaking on the occasion Shri Vijay J Shetty Haladi, the Hon. Secretary and Convenor of Bunts’ Sangha reiterated the origin of chess and emphasised on the importance of chess as it improves the concentration and helps in logical thinking. Smt. Padmashree, Senior Principal of Vidya Soudha, and the Convener of Zone-5 congratulated our School for hosting the event and complemented for a fine ambience apt for a chess tournament
The tournament commenced with the Chief Arbiter, Mr. Manjunath instructing the chess players with rules and regulations. Out of 17 schools, under zone 5 ,180 students participated for under 14, 17, and 19 boys and girls with 7 rounds for each category.
The closing ceremony commenced with the distribution of prizes for the budding players.The Guest of Honour CA Ashok Shetty M, the Honorable Chairman and President of R.N.S Vidyaniketan congratulated the Winners and motivated them to scale higher in their future execution.
Participation and appreciation certificates were distributed to all participating schools. RNS Vidyaniketan had the Privilege to produce skilled budding players as Shreyas Angadi of 7th grade, under 14 boys, Saloni Dharnish of 7th grade, under 14 girls, Sinchana Nagarakar of under 17 girls, Saathvik R Pai of 9th grade bagging Gold and Advith Shetty of 9th grade bagging Silver have been selected to represent at the State Level. The event was conducted by proficient and qualified Arbiters [5 in number] and the tournament concluded with many memories to be cherished for the longest time.
